Outside My Window...It feels kind of like fall lately! It's just chilly enough in the morning that I need a sweatshirt, then by mid-morning it's nice and warm. Really perfect weather, the kind I dream about in the winter!
Things I'm Thinking About....Extracurricular activities for the upcoming year. It's that time. With four kids, this means sitting down with pencil and paper and trying to figure out where everyone needs to be and when, and trying to see how it can all fit together. Plus, trying to make sure we have time to be home! I put a lot of thought into this planning, to ensure we don't get burned out. It's no simple task, but I *think* I am almost there.
In My Garden...I harvested my first garlic last week! It grew great and now there are 42 bulbs drying out on newspaper on the porch. I am curious to see how well it will store, but I think we will be using A LOT of garlic in the weeks to come and need to figure out what to do with it all. We are still eating kale, blueberries, chard, radishes, tomatoes, zucchini, and summer squash. We also finally have some baby peppers on our pepper plants. And the green beans are pretty much a daily staple 'round here.
Food, and the Cooking Thereof....We picked lots of blueberries at a nearby farm last weekend and this past week I made 12 jars of blueberry jam. Also blueberry pie, blueberry cake, and lots of blueberry pancakes. I think my favorite is still blueberries on cereal though, especially Cheerios. The secret is to put way more blueberries than cereal:).
Creating..... I finished another afghan square. One more, then I am going to lay them all out and see if it looks big enough. I am feeling optimistic that it might actually be finished in time for the holidays!
Reading and Watching...I am reading Joyland-really good, creepy book. This week, we took the kids to see the new Percy Jackson movie (Rose saw Turbo instead). Both were very much enjoyed.
Plans For the Week Ahead...Back to schooling, a well-check and a cooking class for Grace (bet she'll enjoy the class more), a trip to the lake, and visiting a state park. Also working on our latest 1000 piece puzzle and squeezing in some badminton games and a little more summer fun.
Hope you have a great week!
